According to a job posting on LinkedIn very recently, Walmart, America’s biggest retailer, is looking to hire a crypto expert. With this particular job posting, all the speculations started circulating whether Walmart will accept cryptocurrencies as a payment in the near future.
The company is “seeking a visionary leader” to fill the “digital currency and cryptocurrency product lead” role, according to the ad. The person who gets the job will be responsible for creating a digital currency strategy for the big box store.

According to the job description posted by Walmart, the candidate will be responsible for designing the Digital Currency strategy and product roadmap.
“As Digital Currency/ Cryptocurrency lead at Walmart you will be responsible for developing the Digital Currency strategy and product roadmap. As an expert in Digital Currencies/ Cryptocurrency and Blockchain related technologies, you will drive the vision for the product and capabilities roadmap.”

The job posting on LinkedIn also suggest that the candidate will also require identifying technology and customer trends, as well as the investment required to capitalize on them. However, the ad doesn’t specify what products the candidate would launch.
The job posting came weeks after reports circulated that Walmart rival Amazon was planning a major foray into the cryptocurrency sector. A job ad for a digital currency and blockchain product lead has been posted by Amazon. Despite this, Amazon has denied rumors that it will accept bitcoin as payment.
