Recently, Pi Network launched the Pi Hackathon #BuildPi2gether in which the event focuses on the developing apps and utilities over the Pi Network.

The #BuildPi2gether Hackathon is a collective effort of Pi Pioneers and developers to define the network’s future. Started from last month June 28 and all the way to the August 10th, the Hackathon will take place over a seven-week period.

To commemorate Pi2Day 2021, the launch of the Pi hackathon’s objective is to enable and encourage community developers to develop real-world usage applications and utilities for Pi community over Pi Network.

#BuildPi2gether seeks to self-actualize by creating value through a decentralized network of programmable utilities (apps) that use the Pi blockchain as a medium of exchange to transfer products and services. The new Pi Utilities Platform is the foundation for this, connecting the Pi Testnet blockchain and eventually, the Mainnet in the backend and the Pi Browser’s user accessibility in the frontend.

As we speak right now about the Pi Hackathon #BuildPi2gether, the event has already kicked off and is on the full swing as the developers and Pioneers are already involved in this event. People from all backgrounds are participating in this event. Developers and Pioneers are submitting their new and innovative ideas into the forums, and many Pioneers and developers are reviewing their proposals.

The official app of the Pi Network announced that the Pi Hackathon has begun, and they need your assistance. To be enrolled into the Hackathon, new projects will need your reviews. Reviews will filter out the clatter and ensure that high-quality projects are released in a distributed fashion. Therefore, Pi Network urges people to contribute into the project by reviewing the new proposed ideas.

Pioneers can do that by visiting the Brainstorm and taping into review to contribute into the network. You can simply do that by logging into your Pi app and under the utilities section go to the Brainstorm and tap into the review button to get started.

Pi Brainstorm for Pi Hackathon

It’s a new prototype where Pioneers can submit Pi Apps for the future Pi Blockchain, join or review projects, and recruit other Pioneers to join projects. Pioneers with the KYC can also donate Pi to a specific project that has been published. Initially, the Brainstorm app will publish project suggestions for ecosystem apps (Type 2), with corporate apps following later (Type 1).

The goal of this app is to involve all Pioneers in the development of the Pi ecosystem. The app aims to channel the creativity, collective wisdom, abilities, and support of their vast community of millions active Pioneers into real-world apps, utilities, and ecosystem development, all of which are critical to Pi’s success.

So, how it works?

A new proposal can be submitted by any Pioneer. The projects which are submitted are not automatically published. To begin, Pi chat moderators review suggestions for quality and duplicate/spam elimination. Second, the Core Team will publish a few very well project proposals that have both a good idea and an initial implementation plan with sufficient specifics to suggest alignment with ecosystem goals and feasibility.

While Pioneers can propose good ideas without having to build them themselves, proposals where the creator also commits to becoming one of the project’s builders are given precedence. Then, all Pioneers will be able to see all the project proposals that have been published and vote up or down on whether they should be developed to meet utility and ecological goals. KYC’ed Pioneers can help the project even more by gifting Pi to the builders as a reward. Pioneers who are talented and motivated can apply to join certain initiatives to help them come to completion.

Pioneers can submit app proposals for two different types of projects under Pi Hackathon

1.      Apps with a business model:

These apps can generate Pi through facilitating business transactions within their apps, such as charging Pi for enabling a purchase of products or services, or selling Pi directly to Pioneers. These apps make their own product, technological, and commercial decisions, such as which features or capabilities to include and how much to charge, on their own.

2.      Ecosystem apps:

Ecosystem applications are apps that don’t have a revenue model but are critical to the Pi ecosystem’s infrastructure. The goal of such apps is to eliminate insufficiencies, encourage ecosystem growth, and benefit the network as a whole. Pioneers can create these apps, which will be supported and directed by the Core Team and may run on the Core Team’s server infrastructure. Community donations are the primary source of funding for such projects’ developers. Type 2 apps include, for example, an alternative wallet, a KYC app, and so on.

Both type 1 and type 2 apps can be proposed by Pioneers. Remember that the Core Team’s initial focus will be on vetting and publishing ecosystem apps offered by people who want to build them. Also, as previously said, please refrain from proposing apps that are in violation of the law or Pi’s standards, or apps that are incompatible with Pi network ecosystem goals, such as apps that enable hoarding, gambling apps, or casinos.

So, what are the project roles like?

Every project will likely to have these 3 types of roles and they are as follows;

1.      Admins

Admins can approve team members and change the project description for ecosystem app proposals. The leaders of the project assume the function of admins in business apps.

2.      Business

People who want to help with the project’s commercial aspects, such as marketing, operations, communication, pioneer involvement and support, and so on.

3.      Developers

Engineers, designers, and others who want to contribute technical talents to the project’s construction.

Finally, the Pi Network expects that the Pi Hackathon will contribute to the decentralization of Pi’s ecosystem on the Pi Platform, by leveraging the strength of their global community to achieve the scale and scope of traditional markets, where real values and utilities are created. You can learn more by visiting Pi Network’s official blog on the Medium platform.

So, all the Pioneers, start contributing by reviewing or proposing new ideas and creating them for better sustainable future of Pi Network. #BuildPi2gether
